Thai Massage

This form of massage, traditionally performed by monks in Thailand, traces its roots to India over 2500 years ago. It is influenced by both Chinese and Indian healing arts and uses direct pressure and passive stretching techniques to remove blockages and provide balance of energy along specified pathways in the body. This therapeutic treatment is performed in the traditional manner on a mat to allow for maximum use of the practitioner's body weight.

Thai Herbal Escape

A Thai tradition of applying a steaming herbal poultice during a Thai massage. The fragrant herbal poultice is filled with a blend of traditional Thai herbs and used to alleviate muscle pain and inflammation (especially good post partum), open up pores, and bring heat to the muscles to induce relaxation. This massage has a soothing and simultaneously invigorating effect on the body and mind.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a form of acupressure that has been practiced for thousands of years in Japan and literally means "finger pressure" in Japanese. Shiatsu uses rhythmic pressure from four to twelve seconds on specific points along the body's meridians by using the fingers, hands, elbows, knees, and sometimes feet to unblock and stimulate the flow of energy. A session may also include gentle stretching and range-of-motions manipulations. Shiatsu is used to treat pain and illness, to relax the body, and to maintain general health.

Rising Lotus

This healing retreat for new mothers helps to speed the recovery process after giving birth using therapeutic herbs that help nourish the womb. Detoxify sore overworked muscles and assist the body in its natural process to heal the womb and get it back into shape. This restorative massage incorporates special herbs that are wrapped in muslin cloth, heated in water and massaged into the body focusing on the abdomen as well as muscles that are taxed during pregnancy and delivery. The herbs are taken home to steep in a soothing bath to further assist in the healing process.
This treatment is recommended as a series of four treatments, twice a week for two weeks.
